Connect ChatGPT to Ecobot

ChatGPT supports custom MCP connectors on paid plans. Add Ecobot once from a desktop browser and the connector syncs to the iOS and Android apps. ChatGPT prefers MCP tools shaped like search / fetch — Ecobot's search_supplement_content tool works everywhere; richer tools surface most reliably in Deep Research mode and developer contexts.

Requirements

  • A paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business, or Enterprise. Custom connectors are not available on Free.
  • Add the connector on chatgpt.com (desktop or Safari desktop-mode on iOS). Mobile apps consume connectors added to the account.

Setup steps

  1. 1

    Open Settings on chatgpt.com

Sign in at chatgpt.com. Open Settings and choose Connectors.

  2. 2

    Create a custom connector

Click Create (or Add) and fill in the fields.

    Name: Ecobot
    MCP Server URL: https://ecobot.com/mcp
    Authentication: None
  3. 3

    Enable per chat

In a new chat, open the "+" / Tools menu and turn on Ecobot. Try: "Use Ecobot to look up the 2018 Regional Supplement guidance for problematic hydric soils in the Great Plains."

Notes & caveats

  • In standard chat mode ChatGPT primarily uses search-shaped tools. To use every Ecobot tool, run the request in Deep Research or a developer / API context.
  • Business and Enterprise workspaces require an admin to allow custom connectors under Settings → Workspace → Connectors.
